We have a new face at the practice, and we cannot wait for you to meet her. Vanesa Martinez-Avery, WHNP-BC, has joined The Ob-Gyn Center as a board-certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner.
Vanesa is a Las Vegas native who has built her career around one habit: listening. If you have ever left a medical appointment wishing you had more time, more answers, or just a little more space to ask your real questions, you will feel comfortable with her right away.
A Local Provider Who Knows Las Vegas
Vanesa was born and raised right here in Las Vegas. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Nevada State University in Henderson, then went on to complete her Master of Science in Nursing at Frontier Nursing University, where she specialized in women’s health.
Her training covers the full range of care women need across every stage of life, from the first gynecology visit through pregnancy, postpartum recovery, the perimenopause years, and beyond. Whether you are coming in for an annual exam, planning a pregnancy, sorting out a new symptom, or thinking through your contraception options, Vanesa has the background and the time to walk you through it.
What You Can Expect at a Visit With Vanesa
Vanesa’s approach to patient care is built around three ideas: listen first, explain clearly, and follow through.
She believes that how you feel during your appointment matters as much as the medical care itself. That means no rushing, no dismissing your concerns, and no leaving the room confused about what was discussed. She uses visual tools, diagrams, and written resources during visits so you can see what is going on in your body and understand the decisions you are making about your own care.
Her clinical interests include:
- Prenatal care. Vanesa enjoys walking pregnant patients through each stage of pregnancy, helping you understand what is happening week by week and what to expect at every visit.
- Postpartum support. The weeks and months after delivery often get less attention than they deserve. Vanesa is passionate about giving postpartum patients real time and real answers, whether you are dealing with physical recovery, mood changes, sleep struggles, breastfeeding questions, or just trying to feel like yourself again.
- Underserved areas of women’s health. Vanesa actively researches the parts of women’s health that get overlooked, the symptoms that get brushed off, and the questions that fall outside the textbook. If you have ever felt unheard at a previous appointment, she is the kind of provider you have been looking for.
Her Philosophy, in Her Own Words
Vanesa’s personal approach to care is grounded in a simple belief: how you make someone feel can mean more than what you do for them.
She gives every patient her full attention and works to build an environment where you feel comfortable asking the questions you have been holding onto. She wants you to leave each appointment feeling informed, respected, and confident in the next step.
Outside of the Office
When she is not at the practice, Vanesa is spending time with her husband, her two children, and her fur baby. She also loves long walks and reading. She is a true Las Vegas native, and she is glad to care for the community she grew up in.
