April is C-section Awareness Month

April is “National C-section Awareness Month”, so we’d like to express our appreciation and gratitude to all the hard-as-nails mothers who have endured this procedure. The first ever recorded cesarean procedure was purportedly performed on a live patient in (around) the year 1500 in Switzerland by a pig-gelder named Jacob Nufer. He performed the procedure on his wife who, after several days in labor, failed to deliver vaginally even with the help of 13 midwives. The couple reportedly went on to have five more children, and the child delivered via C-section is believed to have lived to the age of 77.

To this day, the C-section is still an arduous procedure that requires extensive preparation and months of recovery. It should not be taken lightly and represents as a great a struggle as any “natural” or unassisted birth. To those recovering and those about to enter motherhood, we are proud to assist you with your pregnancies and deliveries and are consistently amazed by the strength you show on a daily basis. We hope to continue to provide a supportive and reliable environment for women and are always looking to improve our services. Thank you for all of your support.
